Lieutenant Walter Bertram Wood was a World War I flying ace credited with thirteen confirmed aerial victories. ==Early service== Wood was the younger son of a magistrate. He began serving England in an unusual way; he was a Boy Scout coast watcher until he was old enough to enlist in the army. He then joined the Hampshire Regiment and went through the Officers Training Corps of the Artists Rifles.
